Rich Dad Poor Dad
This is one of the earliest books on personal finance that I have read. I also believe this is the best book Robert Kiyosaki has written. I have heard many people talking about the good things in this book and how the sound financial principles they have learned. The book has given me a paradigm shift towards money. Phrases like, “good debt, bad debt” and “mind your own business” still ring in my ears. Good to start with this book if you have problems handling your money. It is easy to read even if you have not read a book since primary school.

The first and best selling book by Adam Khoo. It was given to me from a friend and I was very inspired by the book. A very comprehensive book covering from mindset to personal money management to making passive income to investing the Warren Buffett way. Definitely value for money! He is truly a self-made millionaire Singaporean and this should be an inspiration for all of us.

The 4-Hour Workweek
I can tell by reading this book that the author, Timothy Feriss, is a very witty guy. He has very unconventional thinking that speaks truth. I learned alot of new perspectives from him. An important thing I learned from him was his ability to focus on something totally until he achieve his success. For example, as a newbie to kick boxing but was able to focus on his training, and eventually emerge as the champion in a Chinese kick boxing competition! He advocates time should be spent on living not on earning a living. Money to him is just a sustenance, and living life to the fullest is what matters. He teaches you how to handle your boss, colleagues, build a passive income business, and even to “outsource your life”!

This book is the classic. Almost every successful person has read this book. There are 13 principles to remember and follow to be rich. Napoleon Hill interviewed hundreds if not thousands of rich and influential people to come out with these 13 principles. This book has magical powers – firstly, I feel very motivated just by reading the book. Secondly, the next time I revisit the book, I learn something new and powerful. The Monk who sold his Ferrari
I remembered I finish this book in a few hours. Continuously without rest. There were some answers that I seeked and I found them in this book. Although I have small progress in terms of achieving my wealth, I was not sure if being financially free was my only goal. I asked myself, “is that it?” and I worry that even if I achieve it, I may not be happy. This book talks about life purpose and the single most enlightening point for me is “to live and enjoy the current moment”. I am always worrying about tomorrow and looking forward, and I failed to embrace what was in front of me. Right now, I am trying to do more of the latter, while at the same time, moving towards my goal of financial freedom.
