Don't Drive

Here are the 10 good reasons why you should not buy a car, which I discovered after I sold mine. It is not that bad afterall (sounds like sour grapes :) !

1) Exercise more by walking. Duke University Medical Center found that a brisk 30 minute walk 6 days a week is enough to trim waistlines and cut the risk of metabolic syndrome.

2) Contribute to save Mother Earth – reduce carbon dioxide emission by 120kgC/day.

3) Save more money. I can now free up about $900/mth for savings, investments and other needs/wants.

4) Read more books. With others driving me around, I can read books during the journeys and write more book summaries here!

5) No traffic jams. I usually take train now which is not affected by heavy road traffic. I was driving a manual transmission so it made traffic jam even more unbearable.

6) No queuing or waiting for carpark space. I no longer need to consider the ease of parking when going to places. In crowded location, parking is really a pain, you can wait up to 1 hour!

7) No carpark charges. Parking in city area can be very expensive and always had to limit the time spent at the place.

8) No fines. Sometimes when there is no carpark spaces, I had to illegal park the car and expose myself to the possibility of getting a ticket.

9) No pumping of petrol. Petrol prices have been soaring and it hurts the wallet especially if the car has bad fuel consumption.

10) No maintenance. I no longer need to schedule car maintenance and pay hefty repair/replacement fees.
